At Chem-Dry of Marin, we understand that your delicate fabrics are an expensive investment that, unlike regular carpets and upholstery, can last up to 150 years or more with proper care and attention.

That’s why we ensure that your area & oriental rugs are carefully treated only by our certified, trained area rug specialists in our unique plant using a process combining Old World craftsmanship, new technology, and powerful yet gentle cleaning solutions. It’s powerfully soft on your investment textiles!

Before we begin the cleaning process for any rug, we photograph and inspect each rug thoroughly. After the dry process, we do a post inspection and wrap each rug individually for delivery.

Authentic Hand-Washing For Fine Textiles

Your oriental and area rugs are not just art treasures. They are also very valuable investments. That’s why we clean them with so much care and attention to detail.

Utilizing the basic elements of air and water, we customize the cleaning process for the needs of each individual rug.

With patented tools and equipment specifically designed for the cleaning of oriental rugs, we provide a thorough and effective, yet gentle, cleaning process that is powerfully soft. Depending on the particular fibers, dyes, soils, and construction of the rug, we’ll draw from the cleaning techniques described below.

dustDust
Dry particulate soil removal is the most important process in the ultimate cleaning of any fine rug. Our automated rug dusting machine removes up to 85% of all dry soil before the wash begins. In some cases, a 9 X 12 rug can contain up to 87lbs of particulates!

dustWash
We believe the most effective method for cleaning fine rugs is total immersion in cold water and gently washed with safe, green cleaning products. Our unique 1200 gallon wash tub brings Old World technology to the 21st century.

dustRinse
Once your delicate textiles are washed, each one is fully rinsed with fresh clean water and given a final rinse for sanitizing. This helps to restore the fibers back to a soft condition.

dustDrying
The drying process for fine textiles is very important to the overall success to the cleaning process. Our system consists of a drying chamber capable of removing 95% of the water in less than 3 minutes! Using the spin action of our system, we are able to guarantee that your rug is completely dry before it’s returned.

dustFinal Dry & Detail
Once the rugs are removed from our drying unit, they are immediately raised on our dry towers for final drying and post inspection. Air movers move gently across the rugs for final drying and a moisture test is performed to ensure rugs are dry.
